Diamonds and flexible bands are natural enemies. Anything that moves works against a setting, and the setting resists the movement in return, which is why so many flexible pieces end up carrying stones only where the metal has been stiffened into submission first.
Stations are the way out of that fight. Placing 0.30 carat total weight at three discrete points rather than running it end to end leaves long stretches of bare coil between them, and those stretches do all of the flexing. The rigid parts and the moving parts are kept separate by design. Prong setting completes the argument: each stone stands on its own posts, clear of the band, so no diamond is ever asked to bend with the gold underneath it.
