How to Choose a Gold Bangle

Start with the closure, because it decides how you size the piece. A slip-on bangle has to pass over the widest part of the hand, so measure there — around the knuckles, fingers held together — rather than at the wrist. Pieces with a snap lock or lobster clasp open fully and fit at the wrist like a chain bracelet, and a cuff goes on through its opening at the narrow side of the wrist. Then weigh presence against daily wear: the 1.8 mm diamond-cut bangle, at 4.6 grams, disappears into a stack; the 10 mm twist, at 21.3 grams, is a piece worn on its own. How do I measure my bangle size?

It depends on how the bangle closes. A slip-on bangle must pass over the hand, so measure around the widest part of the hand, across the knuckles with the fingers held together, rather than the wrist. Bangles with a snap lock or lobster clasp open fully and are sized at the wrist, like a chain bracelet. Cuffs ease on at the narrow side of the wrist. Where a DEEVE bangle comes in a set size it is listed on the piece: 7 inches for the diamond-cut stack bangle, 7.25 inches for the fancy weave, size 7.5 for the twist bangles.

What is the difference between a bangle and a cuff?

A bangle is a rigid bracelet formed as a full circle, slipped over the hand or opened on a clasp; a cuff is left open so it slides onto the wrist through the gap. DEEVE carries both, all in solid 14K gold: slip-on, snap-lock and lobster-clasp bangles, and cuffs from the open Pallina to the high-polish classic cuff and the flexible tubogas.

How can I tell if a gold bangle is real?

Every DEEVE piece is hallmarked for its karat — 14K is 58.5% pure gold — and comes with a certificate of authenticity guaranteeing the gold purity. Because the gold is solid rather than plated, filled or vermeil, there is no coating to wear through to a different metal underneath.

Bangle and Cuff Styles

The range divides by how each piece goes on. The diamond-cut stack bangle is a closed circle, 1.8 mm wide, that slips over the hand and is the one to wear in multiples. The twist bangles turn gold into a sculptural helix at 5.3 mm and 10 mm and fasten with a snap lock; the fancy weave bangle and the bead cuff close with a lobster clasp. The classic cuff tapers from 20.40 mm to 11 mm at its ends, and the tubogas cuffs coil around the wrist on a flexible weave.
