How to Measure Your Ring Size at Home

All you need is a thin strip of paper or string and a ruler. Watch the guide, follow the steps, then find your number in the chart.

How to measure your ring size

  1. Wrap a thin strip of string or paper around the base of your finger.
  2. Mark where it overlaps, then measure the length in millimeters.
  3. Find that number in the inside circumference column of the chart below.

Already own a ring that fits?

Measure its inside diameter in millimeters and find that number in the inside diameter column of the same chart.

For an accurate reading

  • Fingers are smaller in the morning and when cold, so measure at the end of the day.
  • If your knuckle is larger than the base of your finger, measure both and choose a size in between.
  • Wider bands (over 6 mm) typically require a half size larger.
  • Between sizes? Size up for comfort. Rings can be sized down more easily than up.
  • Measure the finger you'll wear the ring on. Your dominant hand is typically half a size larger.
