A huggie is judged by how little daylight it leaves between the metal and the lobe. This one takes that brief and stretches it upward: 19mm from top to bottom against 13mm across, so what sits on the ear is an elongated link standing upright rather than a small ring clamped around it. Standing an elongated link upright means the design is read vertically, drawing the eye down the length of the lobe rather than out from it.

The paperclip outline is two straight sides closed by two half-round ends, and a high polish treats those two elements differently. Along the straight runs the highlight lies down as one unbroken stripe of light. At the rounded ends it compresses and slides. The earring alternates between a hard graphic line and a soft one as the head moves, which is more visual event than a plain huggie usually manages.
