A bracelet clasp is the only clasp you operate with the wrong hand. A necklace is fastened blind but with two hands; a bracelet gives you one, at an awkward angle, working against the very wrist it is closing around. That constraint is the whole argument for a snap lock.
A snap lock is a sprung tongue seated into a box. It holds by its own spring pressure, so there is no ring to thread, no lever to pinch and no fingernail work: the two halves are pushed together until they click. It also releases only under a deliberate squeeze rather than a pull, which is the opposite of how a sleeve or a coat cuff tugs at a bracelet through the day.

A wrist bends, rotates and leans on things, and a run of spheres joins at points rather than along flat faces, so the bracelet pivots in every direction and presents no edge to press into the skin against a desk. There is also no right way round to keep track of, which is not true of most link bracelets once they have turned.
