A 1.12 cttw milgrain pavé round diamond engagement ring in solid 14K white gold, its natural diamonds led by a 0.96 ct center stone, I (near-colorless) in color and I1 (included) in clarity. Rings made before casting became standard were built by hand from sheet and wire, and every edge showed the tools that made it. Beading those edges was the fix. A row of raised grains turns an imperfect line into a deliberate texture, which is why antique work looks warm where a sharp modern edge looks machined, and it is the detail this ring is built around.

The milgrain border frames a pave field of 36 diamonds, 0.16 carat between them. Small stones and a beaded edge belong together. Both are textures rather than statements, and together they keep the metal from reading as a blank wall on either side of the middle.

Baroque scrollwork carries the shoulders up to a prong-set round of at least 0.96 carat. Work in this idiom tends to sit low, with the head integrated into the metalwork instead of standing above it, and low settings wear well: fewer knocks, nothing standing proud to catch on a sleeve.
