A bold paperclip station lariat necklace in solid 14K yellow gold, 2.9mm stations on a 0.9mm chain, 17 inches, about 2 g. The two widths on this necklace are 0.9mm and 2.9mm, and the distance between those numbers is the design. A chain at 0.9mm sits near the limit of what still reads as metal from more than a step away; it holds light as a thread and then disappears. The paperclip stations are more than three times that, wide enough to show a flat polished face. Put both on one strand and the stations look suspended with nothing holding them.
The center element measures 74.9 x 2.9 mm, a long vertical run for a necklace of 17 inches. A lariat is the one form that argues with a neckline instead of following it: every other necklace traces a horizontal arc, and this drives a line straight down through the middle of that arc.
