A large hoop does not have to be heavy. At 40mm this one falls toward the jawline, but its 2.00 mm profile keeps the look light and graphic, a clean circle of gold rather than a bold statement. It is the large hoop for people who usually wear small ones and want to try the size without the weight.

It is 40.00 mm across. Approximate weights are 1.8 g in yellow and white gold and 1.6 g in rose gold, low enough that a hoop this size can be worn from morning into the evening without the lobe noticing.

The yellow and white gold pairs close with a snap lock; the rose gold pair closes with a hinged snap back. Both swing through the piercing and click shut, so the hoop stays closed as one ring.

How a snap lock hoop closes

A snap lock is built into the hoop itself. A hinged post swings across, passes through the piercing and clicks into a catch on the other side, which turns the hoop into one closed circle that cannot slide out. To take it off, ease the post out of the catch and swing it open. No click means the post is not seated yet.

Are gold earrings good for sensitive ears?
