Natural diamonds at three carats become a conversation about price before they become a conversation about light. Price per carat does not stay flat as weight climbs; it accelerates, because large rough is rare and a big clean crystal cannot be assembled out of small ones. Mined stones at this weight cost far more than six times what half a carat of the same grade costs, and that curve is what forces the compromises.

The usual answer, then, is a quiet trade: two color grades down, a clarity nobody would have accepted at a carat, or simply less weight than the buyer came in for. Is anything given up on grade to reach 3.00 carats?

No. G colour and VS2 clarity, the same grade carried at every weight in this range, IGI certified. At this size the usual trade is two colour grades down or a clarity nobody would have accepted at a carat; neither has been made here.
