How is the 3.00 carat total split between the two earrings?

One and a half carats in each ear. The 3.00 ct figure is the two stones together.

Is anything given up on grade to reach 3.00 carats?

No. G colour and VS2 clarity, the same grade carried at every weight in this range, IGI certified. At this size the usual trade is two colour grades down or a clarity nobody would have accepted at a carat; neither has been made here.

Why is the 3.00 ct setting so plain?

Deliberately. Four prongs in solid 14K gold on push-back posts — no halo, nothing wrapped around the girdle, nothing added to make the stone read as more than it already is. At this size the stud is the whole piece, and the metal's only job is to hold the diamond and stay out of the way.

How does this compare to other 3.00 ct stud earrings?

Three carats total is a confident, occasion-ready size without tipping into costume territory. The G colour and VS2 clarity grade holds up at this scale, where lower-quality stones become far more noticeable.
